Yoga Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do if I am new to yoga?

Try a beginner class or an all levels class. Gentle and Restorative yoga are also great for those who are nervous and want to start off with something simple and slow.
Tell your teacher and DON’T be shy! We want to help you feel as comfortable as possible as you begin this new journey. The more we know about you, the more we can provide the perfect class for you. We LOVE beginners and want you to feel welcome!

What if I have injuries or limitations?

Tell us! If you have any situation or concern that may interfere with your ability to practice the postures, let us know so we can help provide modifications and tools to make the class easier for you. We would rather help you navigate your situation than leave you feeling unsuccessful or discouraged. Where there’s a will there’s a way and we are here to help you find it!

How Many Times Per Week Should I Practice?

Yoga is amazing. Even if you only practice for one hour a week, you will experience the benefits of the practice. If you can do more than that, you will certainly experience more benefits.
We suggest starting with two or three times a week, for an hour or 75 minutes each time. If you can only do 20 minutes per session, that’s fine too! Don’t let time constraints or unrealistic goals be an obstacle—do what you can and don’t worry about it. You will likely find that after a while your desire to practice expands naturally and you will find yourself doing more and more.

I’m Not Flexible—Can I Do Yoga?

YES! You are a perfect candidate for yoga. Many people think that they need to be flexible to begin yoga, but that’s a little bit like thinking that you need to be able to play tennis in order to take tennis lessons. If we want to increase mobility, we have to work on it…and that is exactly what yoga allows us to do.
Come as you are and you will find that a regular yoga practice will help you to increase your range of motion. This newfound agility will be balanced by strength, coordination, and enhanced cardiovascular health, as well as a sense of physical confidence and overall well-being.
